Climate
While protected by the mountain ranges surrounding it, Salida is still high in the Rockies and has the kind of weather you'd expect from its position. Winter temperature can fall well below 0 at night, but the average daytime high is well above freezing. Summers are pleasantly warm and the thermometer rarely reaches the 90s. Snowfall in the valley is much less than that in the mountains, but you can still expect quite a bit of it during the season.
