Description
Hewletts Gulch Trail is a great opportunity for mountain bikers of most ability levels to enjoy some excellent singletrack riding when in the Ft. Collins area.
With little elevation gain over the 14-mile trail system, the Hewletts Gulch is quite conducive to cruising. There are, however, opportunities for a challenge on Hewletts Gulch Trail, with several technical stream crossings involving short strenuous climbs. These climbs can be walked in hike-a-bike style with little effort.
As riders gain elevation on the Hewletts Trail, a steep rocky trail section will come into view off the side of the trail. If riders choose to do the loop of the Hewletts trail, this will be the descent. Otherwise riders may ride Hewletts as an Out and Back and come down from the summit meadow the same way they ascended.

While riding any trail system it is a great idea to include a repair kit and first aid kit. Hewletts Gulch Trail is multi-use and hikers and horseback riders may be seen along the way. Please be considerate on the trails and understand right of way protocol.

Basic Directions
From Ft. Collins take College St-Hwy 287 North from town. Turn west on Poudre Canyon Highway-Highway 14. Follow Poudre Canyon Highway for about ½ hour to Poudre Park. Go through town and pay attention for the last bridge crossing over the Poudre River. Park on right and ride through or around gate on road to access Hewlett’s Gulch Trail.
