Description
Hartman Rocks area, just south of Gunnison, is a trail system with a bit of desert flavor in the higher elevation mountains. The soil here is red and there are several outcroppings of slickrock and granite. Trails are plentiful at Hartman Rocks, with over twenty options to choose from spanning 8000 acres of land.
Several trails in the Hartman Rocks system are quite steep and have rather large drops in the downhill sections. There is a variety of singletrack, slickrock, sand and rocky trail surfaces within the Hartman Rocks complex and a trail-map of the area is a great tool for maximum enjoyment here.
