Description
The Gunnison River Bluffs Area runs along the Gunnison River. It along with the Old Spanish Trail traverse the area and provide visitors an opportunity to observe scenic views and reflect on classic western history. Small unmarked paths connect the two main trails at several locations allowing travel from the lush riparian habitat along the Gunnison River to the dry desert route of the historic Old Spanish Trail. The spring and fall are the best times to do the trails (March - May or late August - October).

Basic Directions
There are two trail heads. The northern trail head is located just south of the intersection of Hwy 50 and 28-1/2 Road - take Hwy 50 heading towards Delta, turn right on 28-1/2 Road, go around behind Lion's Park (a very small roadside park), there will be signs pointing you towards the parking area. The southern trail head can be reached by traveling south on Hwy 50 to the landfill access road. When you reach the entrance to the landfill, turn left and you will find the trail head at the large corralled area about 1.5 miles further south.
